The Port has started the bidding process to build an electrical substation with which to electrify all cruise ship berthing points, the Prat dock and the ferry terminals of the Sant Bertran dock and the Costa dock.

Allowing ships to turn off their auxiliary engines, reducing environmental and noise pollution. It is estimated that by 2030, 66,000 tons of CO₂ and 1,234 tons of NOx will be eliminated from emissions from port activity.

The work, part of the Nexigen project and whose budget uses 14 million euros of the 110 million allocated, is expected to be completed in 2025.
