Barcelona airport recovers 39 intercontinental routes to 27 destinations

Barcelona-El Prat Josep Tarradellas Airport has recovered 52% of its pre-pandemic long-haul routes.
Barcelona airport has recovered 39 of the 74 intercontinental air routes it had before the pandemic. Africa is currently the continent with the most intercontinental flights from Barcelona, with a total of 23 routes. In the Middle East, five destinations have been restored, in Latin America two, in Asia one and in the United States up to seven destinations.
El Prat records encouraging figures after the pandemic, passengers have increased by 212% in September compared to 2020 figures, with mobility restrictions due to the pandemic.
The pre-pandemic figures have not yet been recovered, as passenger traffic at the airport was down 48.4% compared to September 2019.
