  • The company will be developing comprehensive logistic-solutions activities for third parties in the new facilities
  • The ZAL Port is a logistics centre of reference for all types of logistic distribution in Southern Europe

CILSA, a company owned by the Port of Barcelona, Merlin Properties and the state-owned company Sepes, and which manages Barcelona’s Zona d’Activitats Logístiques (the Logistics Activities Zone or ‘the ZAL’), will be investing 18 million euros in the construction of new facilities for the company Alfil Logistics. The new, 35,000 m2, latest-generation warehouse will be constructed on a 167,312 m2 plot in the ZAL Port area where Alfil already has another 100.000 m2 warehouse. Alfil Logistics will be developing comprehensive logistics-based activities for third parties (logistics contracts) in the new facilities.

The construction of this new 35,000 m² building, which will be opening sometime in 2019, means that the logistics group will have a logistics hub with a total amount of over 135,000 m² in high quality warehouse facilities. These buildings have been constructed to the highest standards of sustainability, incorporating construction project aspects related to energy efficiency, the use of alternative energy sources, the improvement of indoor environmental quality, water consumption efficiency, the sustainable development of free spaces and the selection of building materials. This warehouse will lead to the creation of 75 new jobs.

This new investment establishes the ZAL Port as a logistics centre of reference and a strategic location for any type of logistics distribution in Southern Europe, with a total area of 681,364 m², while still having an additional capacity for new construction of 285,000 m².
