The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest applied research organisation, will establish its Spanish headquarters in Barcelona, in collaboration with the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). This alliance will boost the internationalisation of the biomedical sector and contribute to the development of a hub for medical bioengineering in southern Europe, as well as for precision medicine and advanced therapies, with a research centre for bioengineering applied to health.

This project will accelerate the internationalisation of the biomedical technology sector and contribute to the development of a medical bioengineering hub in southern Europe. The Regional Ministry stresses that the benefits of this alliance will be the increase in the capacity to link academic research sectors with industrial sectors and the acceleration of knowledge transfer.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is an organisation with a worldwide partnership programme, with centres in Europe, America, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. In Europe, it has collaborative centres in Austria, Great Britain, Italy, Portugal and Sweden.
