Barcelona-El Prat airport was the European airport with the biggest growth in intercontinental routes during 2017. It currently offers 45 direct long-haul destinations, the highest figure of its history. This data was facilitated by Observatori de Trànsit Aeri de la Cambra de Comerç de Barcelona. This mean highlighted that 4.5 million passengers (+18.5%) pertain to these routes. It also underlines that Barcelona is currently Spain’s main entrance and exit door for passenger air traffic to/from Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
