Microsoft opened a digital sales hub in Barcelona this past March, aimed at providing services to companies in thirteen European countries: Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland. This new centre, which joins existing hubs in Dublin (Ireland) and Cairo (Egypt), completes the company’s Digital Sales Centre network in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

The new hub has an initial workforce of 44 people from nine nationalities (59% women), which is expected to grow to around 250 in the coming months. The company is recruiting professionals with various profiles, including technical specialists, cloud architects and solution specialists to fill open positions.

Microsoft Iberica has highlighted that choosing Barcelona as the headquarters for this new centre represents a commitment to supporting development of digital talent in the area, as well as enhancing the city’s appeal as a hub for attracting technology professionals from across Europe. In fact, the centre will offer its services in ten languages.

According to the latest Digital Talent Overview report by Mobile World Capital, Barcelona is one of the most vibrant cities in terms of generating and attracting digital talent, with over 122,000 professionals in the field. Over the past year, more than 5,000 foreign professionals joined companies based in the city. In fact, one in three digital professionals in Barcelona comes from abroad, according to the same report.
