Expansion on former Nissan site: Ebro to invest €100 million in new production line and Goodman, €120 million in new logistics platform
The automotive company will add 57,000 square metres to its presence at the Barcelona City Hub facility

Automotive company Ebro, which occupies most of the former Nissan site in Barcelona’s Zona Franca, has reached an agreement with Australian logistics property firm Goodman to add 57,000 square metres to its facilities in the Barcelona City Hub. The hub has 144,000 m2 for logistics activities, combining multi-sector functionality and circular building practices.
With this expansion, Ebro will have 319,000 square metres of industrial space and, with Chinese partner Chery, will invest €100 million to build a new production line for assembling, soldering and painting. The new line is expected to be operational by the end of this year. Goodman manages the 500,000 square metres of industrial and logistics land in the area.
At the same time, Goodman presented its logistics platform, the largest multi-plant project in Europe, which will have 125,000 square metres of floor space. The Australian company will invest €120 million to build the platform, which will be finished in approximately a year and a half. The space features multi-storey buildings, sustainable mobility solutions and energy efficiency facilities, such as solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations.
Additionally, Ebro, which currently employs 800 workers, is already running two shifts and expects to add another after summer. The goal for 2024 is for production to hit 20,000 vehicles, although the total capacity is 30,000. At the same time, the company is investing €100 million to increase capacity to 100,000 units. Looking to the future, the company hopes to produce 150,000 vehicles a year.
