The construction of an innovative circular economy hub in Barcelona begins, led by the University of Mondragón and TeamLabs Barcelona.

This project, located in front of the La Mercedes eco-district, extends over 3,405 square meters. The complex, developed by ConstruNext S.L., is designed to fulfill the mission of Mondragon Team Academy (MTA), which seeks to create an international community.

The hub will become a dynamic space for entrepreneurship, bringing together companies and startups with the aim of promoting collaboration, the exchange of knowledge and the creation of synergies. Innovation, circular economy and sustainability are the pillars that support this project.

The design of the hub has been carried out in collaboration with the architectural studio Blossom Barcelona and follows the Level(s) sustainability standards of the European Union. Additionally, the project adopts a circular design strategy that includes the renovation of an old industrial warehouse with a green facade and the use of cradle to cradle certified materials.

To ensure fast and efficient construction, ConstruNext will employ the Lean Design & Construction methodology, which optimizes the process by reducing waste and continuous improvement. Key methodology to ensure that the project is executed within the stipulated period.

The hub will also be distinguished by its focus on technology and creativity, with facilities that go beyond traditional energy efficiency. An example of this will be the 3D printed lamps made from recycled plastic, a reflection of the project’s commitment to the circular economy.

This new space not only aims to be a catalyst for a more sustainable economic model in Barcelona, but also a tangible example of how construction and design can be attractive, accessible and respectful of the environment.
