Between January and June 2024, Catalonia received 9.1 million international tourists, which represents an increase of 12.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE). In June, the region welcomed 2 million visitors, 10% more compared to the same month in 2023.

Data that corroborate that Catalonia continues to be the most popular destination for international tourists in Spain. In total, the country attracted 42.5 million visitors in the first half of the year, an increase of 13%.

Regarding the duration of stays, tourists stayed between four and seven nights, with a 27% increase in the use of tourist homes and a slight increase of 8% in hotels. Additionally, 17% stayed in non-commercial housing.

British visitors led the arrivals, with 8.5 million tourists, 10% more than last year. In Catalonia, average spending per visitor was 1,263 euros in June, an increase of 2.5% compared to the previous year, generating a spending count of 2.5 billion euros in the region.
