Once again this year, Barcelona Cataloniahas participated in the Expo Realreal estate fair held in Munich, offering a global overview of its main projects. In its 19th year, the event welcomed approximately 39,000 participants from 77 countries, as one of the most important in the sector in Europe.

Barcelona Catalonia highlighted one of its most strategic projects in the city: Campus Diagonal-Besòspresented at the Intelligent Urbanization Forum 2016featuring the innovative urban-planning strategies being implemented in the cities of Berlin and Barcelona. This innovative project groups together teaching, research and technology-transfer activities in the field of engineering and is led by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia – Barcelona Tech (UPC).

Barcelona Catalonia has participated, as it does every year, in various forums and events alongside several public and private partners collaborating on urban-development projects in Catalonia, including the Gavà City Council, Forcadell, JAP, Miete,Rödl&Partner and The Real Plaza.

BMP 2016: Barcelona Catalonia once again participates in only professional real estate fair in Spain

Organized by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, the 20th annual Barcelona Meeting Point fair was held from 19 to 21 October. BMP, which is the only professional international real estate fair in Spain, welcomed 312 companies from 15 countries and more than 33,000 visitors.

Barcelona Catalonia showed real estate investors the main urban-development projects underway in Barcelona and Catalonia. Noteworthy among these projects are: Campus Diagonal-Besòs –also presented at Expo Real-, 22@Eix BesòsSagreraMarina del Prat Vermell,Pla Delta andParc de l’Alba, the last with 1.5 million m² of floor space available for a variety of economic activities, and one of the most advanced scientific, technological and business platforms in Europe.

At the latest edition of BMP, the large investment funds present continued to find good real estate investment opportunities in the country. In Barcelona, real estate investment in 2015 hit €1.977 billion, up 43% from the previous year. In this regard, a study conducted by Tecnocasa and  Pompeu Fabra University shows that 42% of real estate transactions in Barcelona in 2015 were carried out by foreign investors.
