The Barcelona Metro recorded more than 28 million passengers in August alone. A 17.6% increase over last year.

This is currently the highest number of passengers recorded since 2021 and represents an increase of 16.6% over 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.

As for the city bus system, more than 14 million passengers travelled, 15.1% more than last year and 1.2% more than 2019.

The upward trend is spreading throughout the peninsula, with a 22.5% increase in the use of public transport compared to last year.
