This plan is part of the metropolitan strategic transformation of the access to Barcelona from the Airport. The first transformation stage (Granvia and Plaça Europa) has become an essential element of economic centrality for the Barcelona metropolitan area. At present, 40% of the 75,527 jobs in the city are located in this new economic district. This has consolidated l’Hospitalet as the second local economy of Catalonia.
The Biopol-Granvia Plan is the final transformation stage, which will allow the economic district of the city to extend to the Llobregat River, connecting with the Bellvitge biomedical cluster (more than 50 biomedical research groups and 1,000 researchers).
The 556,418 sqm of roof area for new economic activity (10% retail and 13% hotel), with the potential to create 48,000 new jobs, will make this one of the most dynamic districts in the central area of Barcelona.
