The Catalan Government, in the framework of the so-called New Space Economy to promote a new economic sector of high added value and generator of opportunities, based on the use of smaller satellites and lower cost than nanosatellites orbit at low altitude, has approved the creation of the new Space Agency of Catalonia. The initiative has a budget of 18 million euros for four years to deploy experimental applications and services of global Internet of Things (loT) connectivity and image processing and remote sensing of earth observation. In five years, Catalonia can develop around 1,200 jobs and a turnover of 280 million euros in activities related to this field.
