Swedish non-profit organisation Norrsken is celebrating its first year in Barcelona with a community of 1,200 members. It has consolidated its place as a European technology and impact hub, connecting entrepreneurs with the resources, knowledge and networks they need, and driving businesses that help make this world a better place, according to sources inside the foundation.

Norrsken has emerged as an ecosystem that is already driving the growth of over 140 start-ups and 280 companies, which co-exist with roughly 20 venture capital firms and accelerators. In addition to welcoming 15,000 visitors and hosting 244 events, Norrsken House Barcelona has also become a catalyst for impact initiatives in its first year, raising over €30 million.

The Swedish foundation is now tackling new challenges in Barcelona, including building bridges with the main local entities, such as ACCIÓ and Barcelona Activa, as well as the ecosystems in other major European cities. Their goal is to attract new international investors to the Catalan capital and foster solutions in areas such as climate technology, healthcare, biotechnology and other emerging sectors.
