Microsoft is planning to hire 100 new employees at its artificial intelligence centre in Barcelona
Microsoft plans to hire 100 new workers at its artificial intelligence (AI) centre in Barcelona, according to the company's president in Spain, Alberto Granados.
The company has already hired around 80 people for the AI centre in recent months and plans to expand its team further. The news comes as Microsoft confirms the global layoff of 10,000 employees, representing around 5% of its total workforce.
On the other hand, Granados said the job cuts will not affect data centre projects in Spain, but some areas will be reprioritised towards more strategic projects.
Microsoft opened its AI centre in Barcelona in September 2021 and it is the first of its kind in Spain, the fourth in Europe and the eighth in the world.
