The latest indicators point to the dynamics of the city’s GDP growth, which has grown by 16.2% year-on-year.
The recovery of Barcelona’s economy is already beginning to be felt, as indicators suggest that the growth dynamic in Barcelona will continue to increase. The city’s GDP grew by 16.2% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2021, compared to 2020, at the height of the pandemic.
This is the first time since the last quarter of 2019 that the city’s GDP has increased, after five quarters of decline due to the pandemic, and is translating into the creation of new businesses, opportunities and jobs.
On the other hand, the SOC (Servei d’Ocupació de Catalunya), reports that in September unemployment fell below 70,000 people for the first time since the beginning of covid. This represents a decrease of 26.4% compared to the highest unemployment figures recorded during the pandemic.
