According to a study by the consultancy firm Cushman & Wakefield, Barcelona is positioned as the fifth city in Europe with the greatest attraction of technology companies.
The accumulated technological investment in Barcelona, between 2016 and 2020, has placed the Catalan capital as one of the European cities with the largest implantation of technology companies. Eusebi Carles, partner of the consultancy firm in the Capital Markets area, highlights the city’s potential and its great capacity to absorb new offices every year.
According to the consultancy firm’s study, which includes accumulated investments between 2016 and 2020, it ranks Dublin (with 6.4 billion euros) as the leader in technological investment, followed by London (3.9 billion), Paris (2.3 billion), Amsterdam and, behind them, Barcelona with 900 million euros, far outstripping other major capitals including the national capital itself, Madrid (with 500 million euros).
On the other hand, the partners of the consultancy highlight that Barcelona stands out, compared to the four leaders in the ranking, as a city with a large availability of highly trained employees and offices with high quality and moderate costs. Key factors for its growth and the attraction of investors.
In addition, the firm points out that Barcelona is an ideal city for attracting young talent, both from new hires and from within the organisation itself. It offers a great quality of life, good flight connectivity and a wide variety of international schools. This is why more and more companies are bringing their digital divisions to Barcelona.
